So you'd like to learn more about Burning Dirty's fifth album "Red Velvet"? The eight songs on this rock album are pure ego and imagination, hopes and dreams, crammed into a sonic cannon and blasted onto gooey black vinyl.

This record has it all: knives, guns, explosions, heroes, villains, creeps, scientists, surrealism, deities, paranoia, sex… The usual 21st Century concerns. Presented in glorious, crackling analog with special guest appearances by Sylvia Plath, Dwight Eisenhower, George Orwell, Edward Snowden, Sir Edmund Halley and Pan.

Tires

I sold the last jewelry to tourists who didn't have a clue I locked the door for the last time, the auction: through We lessened our memory's burden, we hide from the truth Recessed in the back of our mind, we keep safe the proof

So I hit the road With tires screaming So effortlessly The rearview mirror

Riding at break-neck, I kissed every apex, the locals impressed with my speed I fight inspiration without hesitation, the wanting outweighing the need Tell your Mom I said goodbye, that I'll be alright She can find me hiding from shadows that I see at night

So I hit the road With tires screaming

You have a voice This was your choice In the end, it'll break you and you'll see It's hard to be right And demonstrate might In the end, it broke me

And I hit the road With tires screaming

Goodbye Dominion is the defining Burning Dirty Band album. Smartly arranged, blues-tinged indie rock is dappled with psychedelic shimmers, raw lo-fi soul, and simmering, spacious anthemic power. Fans of Spoon, Wilco, David Bowie, The Band, and The Beatles will find plenty to like.

Longtime collaborator Steve West (Pavement; Silver Jews; Marble Valley) again lends his talents behind the boards as the BDB explores a newfound minimal efficiency and darker moods than on previous efforts. Sparse, cascading piano countermelodies from Jereme Steele weave around Ben Whitlock's swaggering bass rumble. Cory Garman's guitars alternately shimmer, crunch, and squall accompanied by the subtle propulsion of Ryan Steele's focused drumming. It's an album built from the ground up- methodically assembled and superbly textured.

This is music of loss, recovery, doubt, daydreams, hard realities, and the uneasy compromises of living in a cluttered world. Say hello to Goodbye Dominion. Say hello to the next chapter of the Burning Dirty Band.

"17 Year Sun" has risen. The Burning Dirty Band's second full-length album will be the most surprising disc you'll hear all year.

What exactly is the 17 Year Sun? We say it's a blend of cicadas, impermanence, and moments of unexplainable clarity. The sonic inquisitiveness and diverse tastes of the BDB are fully realized in this sophomore studio effort. Shimmering fluorishes of guitar and keys mingle amicably with nimbly-stepping bass tones and rootsy, swaggering drum rhythms. The vocals and lyrics settle into an honest mood that is distinctly BDB.

www.kyndmusic.com calls 17 Year Sun "a blend of musical quirkiness, roots inspiration and a garage band's edge...an indescribable CD. Part groove, jazz, downright weirdness and mountain psychedelics, it is a journey of tightly composed jams and loose mellow riffs"

Recorded at Sauceland, the BDB again employ Steve West (Pavement, Marble Valley) as producer, engineer, and advisor in all things dirty. West helps Cory Garman, Ben Whitlock, Ryan Steele, and Jereme Steele fully realize their vision of a complete album, flowing through moods and textures effortlessly. 17 Year Sun speaks with the authority of seasoned songcrafters, tempered with the BDB's irreverent prankster personalities and undeniable sense for an eardrum-pleasing melody.

Defy conventional wisdom. Stare directly at this sun and surprise yourself.

We are the Burning Dirty Band, a four-piece collective of musical conspirators from the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Our sound blends garage-marinated mutant blues, rollicking roots groove, and forward-thinking indie quirkiness. The BDB play Rock and Roll with a "wildly original approach to their muse... full of inspired instrumentation and raw fury" according to An Honest Tune magazine.

Our debut full-length album, "Caught", was recorded in the summer of 2002 with Steve West (Pavement, Marble Valley). It's 50-odd minutes of four guys with guitars, bass, drums, keyboards, vocals, a wayward accordion, some post-production weirdness, and a helluva lot of spontaneous soul. An even more focused follow-up album is currently underway, and the band has recently made forays into regional venues such as Top of the Stairs in Blacksburg, VA, The State Theatre in Falls Church, VA, and the Soundquilt Festival. Their third consecutive appearance at the Wilderness Jam festival in September will again provide a glimpse of a live band with an uncanny ear for dynamics, relentless musical inquisitiveness, and what Jesse Jarnow (AllMusic.com; Jambands.com) calls "a collective sense of humor that ties together distorted Allmans-style guitars... and group-composed weirdness"
